Saint Francis of Assisi School

Where faith and education merge with excellence

Saint Francis of Assisi school was opened in 1929. We presently occupy three buildings, with the Pre-School classes held in the building adjacent to Conway Hall. The stone school building contains classrooms for Kindergarten, Grades 1-3, main  office, computer lab, nurse's office, Delaware County Intermediate Unit  remediation and counseling room. The brick building presently contains classrooms for Grades 4-8, principal's office, faculty room, Honors math classroom and contains a combination auditorium/gymnasium. St. Francis of Assisi School has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools since 1984.

Welcome SFA Families!

I would like to take a minute to welcome our new families to SFA and welcome back our returning families! I am looking forward to another wonderful school year working for and with all of you. Let me take a minute to introduce myself to those new to our school. My name is Kara Thompson and I serve as the Home and School President for SFA. My husband Sean and I have a daughter, Olivia, entering 4th grade and a son, Ryan, entering 2nd grade here at St Francis. Additionally, we have a son, Jack, who is entering 2nd grade as well and is part of our PREP program here at SFA. Since arriving here at SFA, I have had the opportunity to volunteer as a homeroom Mom, a member of the CYO Board, a member of the Francis Fest planning committee and many other events here on campus. From the start, the members of the SFA community welcomed me and gave me, as a new parent, the opportunity to volunteer in any capacity needed.

As a member of the SFA community you will hear this repeated time and time again, there is no amount of time that is too little or too insignificant when it comes to volunteering on this campus. Any and all time and talent is welcomed and appreciated not only by the faculty, staff and committee chairs, but most important, by our children. It is amazing to see the excitement in their faces when they see parents coming to volunteer at events here on campus. It is the time and talents of each of our families, that keep this school energizes and moving forward. So please, when there is a volunteer opportunity, know that we would love to have even a small piece of you time, know that we appreciate anything you bring to the table, know that your child feels so special when they see you on this campus.

I am looking forward to a fun filled and exciting year for our students and families. As you will read on some of the following pages, there are plenty of events planned for this year! We will also have new volunteer opportunities for our newly updated library and our lunchroom. Please remember, one very important need prior to volunteering on the SFA campus are your child abuse clearances. Donna Corlies is our primary contact for all clearance information. Please contact her at the start of the school year to ensure you have all clearances or information on clearance so that you can give your time and talents during this school year.

To all of our new families welcome to SFA, and to all of our returning families, welcome back to SFA!
